Captains' Drive In

“THE MEMBERS STILL GIVE THEIR TO SUPPORT HANDIGOLF
On Sunday, January 3, the Club officially started the 2011-season with the traditional “Captains’ Drive In” competition, a 2-ball scramble with 108 contestants. Like last year, the Club had invited three members of the  Handigolf Association to take part in the event, which was partly played in the honour of their worthy cause.
As tradition requires, the two Captains spent the day on the tee of the 7th hole, where the Men’s Captain, Jan Plesman – substituting for Jan Harmsen, who was away on business – and the Ladies Captain, Lene Bjerk-Bojesen – with various success tried to avoid hitting everybody’s drive into the the lake...
After the return to the clubhouse, a light tapas menu was served, during which the winners were duly compensated (see RESULTS below). A genrous wine tasting was also conducted by AIX Wines near Aix-en-Provence, and finally, the Club could hand over a cheque of 2.300 euros to Mr. Gil Maurel of the Handigolf Association. Part of the amount is the result of the 2010 Captains’ Charity Bunker Program on the 10th hole – the balance was sent to Haiti earlier in the year. The money will be spent on a special golf scooter, enabling handicapped persons to play at the Handigolf Academy at Victoria Golf Club in Sophia Antipolis. Handigolf and Royal Mougins would like to thank all Club Members for their kind generosity (and bad tee shots) during the past year.”
Merci!
