New handicap requirement for competitions

The AS resolved at the beginning of 2013 to adopt the recommendations of the European Golf Association (EGA) concerning “active handicaps”.  As announced in March, this will be effective at RMGC from 1 January 2014.  Players will require an active handicap to win a competition prize.  To have an active handicap, a player must have submitted at least 4 cards for handicap purposes during the 12 months preceding a competition.  Players with inactive handicaps may participate in competitions but will not be eligible for any prizes.  If your playing partner has an inactive handicap then you will also not be eligible for a competition prize.
Players who have submitted cards for handicap purposes at other clubs will need to supply appropriate evidence to the competition committee before the start of the competition.  If a player maintains an active handicap at another club and this handicap is different from the RMGC handicap, the lower handicap will count for the competition
Please note that the AS has also decided that to represent any of the RMGC teams all participants are required to have submitted at least 5 scorecards in the previous 12 months.
