Dear Members,

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2014. A year in which so much happened but at the same time a year that seems to have passed by with lightning speed.

We have lost loved ones, the world is in turmoil and the weather is playing funny games with us. All we can do is keep Royal Mougins Golf Club a safe haven for its members, guests and associates.

With 2015 right around the corner, that means new goals, new challenges, new opportunities and new milestones that await us. Our aim for 2015, as it has been all throughout 2014, is to work hard on improving the golf course, the overall service level in the Clubhouse and ProShop, coming up with new formulas of entertainment, etc.

As you are aware the golf course was in pretty good shape up till the fall when we were hit by a disease called dollar spot. At the same time we changed over to a new team on the course. The guys from Celtic Golf have done a great job in trying to recover the course. Given that November was the wettest month ever in this region. We are all confident that we can offer you an even better golf course next season than in 2014.

If you're competitor focused, you have to wait until there is a competitor doing something. Being member & guest focused allows you to be more pioneering

Furthermore, since we are all worrying and concerned about the average age of the membership going up and up and the lack of new members joining we are working closely with a members committee to present you within the near future a Strategic Plan RMGC 2015 – 2020. Under the enthusiastic guidance of Pieter Schoen and with the aid of a young academic, Martijn Weener, we are developing a sound plan to secure RMGC’s future. Soon you will receive a questionnaire and we would be grateful if you could take a little bit of time to fill this out. Also Martijn might contact you to acquire further details and explanations. We are grateful for your assistance in this since Rattan Chadha, Pieter Schoen and the entire committee are convinced that this Plan will be of greatest importance for our Club.

 

I take this opportunity to invite you to our annual Happy New Year’s Cocktail with the RMGC staff at the Clubhouse on January 2^nd from 5 – 7 pm.  Let’s toast together to a great 2015 with and in good health and lots of fun on and around Royal Mougins Golf Club. RSVP!

However I would equally be honoured to welcome you to our traditional New Year Eve Party on the 31^st of December.

Pauline Walker, who plays for Prime Golf Academy and Royal Mougins, just won two competitions : Béziers - Saint Thomas and Valcros (after Digne). Just add a second place at la Grande Motte and a third one in Sainte Maxime.

Golf lessons offered by the AS

Over the last couple of years your Sports Association has managed to accumulate a small budget surplus.  It has decided to use these funds to offer coaching opportunities for members.

We are pleased to announce that we have made an arrangement with Stephane Damiano, through his Prime Golf Academy, to provide a two hour coaching session on Thursday mornings.  These sessions will be open to all members who have paid their AS subscriptions. 

The coaching sessions will start on Thursday 8 January 2015.  They will be held at the practice range from 10 am to 12 pm, and will continue every Thursday for the next 30 weeks with the last session being held on Thursday 30 July.

So what do you have to do to benefit from this?  Just be at the practice range between 10 and 12 any Thursday morning from January to July next year.  Obviously it would be preferable to arrive at 10 am as Stephane (or one of his coaches) will be conducting a group clinic and will start at 10 am promptly.  But feel free to arrive at any time between 10 and 12 and join in.

Stephane will adapt the sessions according to how many members attend.  In general, each month he will try and follow a four part programme as follows:  Week 1- long game basics (posture, grip, address, backswing etc);  Week 2 - chipping and putting basics;  Week 3 - long game improvement; Week 4 - wedging and short irons.  The programme will then be repeated the following month, and could evolve according to participants’ needs.  Some special sessions, concerning the mental game and sport psychology, will be announced in advance.  There should also be time to deal with individual issues and questions.

As we have never done this before we have no idea how many members will attend each session.  If the numbers get too large we will have to consider limiting the size of the group at each session and requiring that members book in advance.  But hopefully this will not be necessary.

We trust that you will take advantage of the coaching offered and Stephane and his team look forward to seeing you on the practice range
